Each day, 15.8% of the world’s population have a headache. Of that 15.8% it is estimated that there are 190,000 migraine attacks experienced every day in England and around 10 million people suffer with migraines in the UK. Migraines and headaches can just be a nuisance that you can power on through or they can be extremely debilitating. So what can be done?
Osteopathy can be used to help treat headaches and migraines arising from the neck and shoulders. Most headaches are whats known as tension headaches, if you release the tension the headache disappears. Osteopaths use techniques that can release this tension.

A Headache is exactly what it sounds like, an ache in your head. Now the ache itself can be different, it could be a band across the head or pain behind the eyes etc. but all headaches are characterised by the ache in the head.
Migraines are like a throbbing headache, usually on 1 side of the head. Other symptoms include feeling sick and sensitivity to light. They also tend to last between 4-72 hours.

It’s not known what causes migraines however there are certain triggers, these are unique to each person.
Alot of these triggers also apply to headaches as a whole. So if you do suffer from headaches it is best to try to avoid these causes!
